Summer 2003 – Large power
outages, thousands die throughout India and France from heat and The World Bank
indicates over 500,000 per year die from air pollution in the asia-pacific.
The largest power outage in
the history of the country. See the monitor screen from Genscape’s which was monitoring the power
output from electrical plants throughout the country, The red rings in the
northeast indicate that the plants are down. If you noticed our schedule we
were scheduled to send out a Newsletter today, how opportune! We were
saying that the power grid isn’t as strong as the power utilities have led us
to believe and they are still suffering from some of the problems reported in
the book “Brittle Power” by
Amory and Hunter Lovins. The utilities
have run simulations of more than single failures and everything worked but
real life is quite different. People are suffering and some are dying over
problems with electric and from defending our oil supplies. Many families have been affected by the need
for oil for our economy and the centralized production of power. Over 1400 power plants are over 25 years old
and need special permits to operate while producing pollution. The case for renewable distributed energy
makes a case for itself. As we have
found large corrupted power companies that have ruin millions of families from
loosing jobs or from investments going sour and thus we need a better approach. We need a plan for clean distributed energy
generation from thousands of sites along the grid. While this proves that the approach to the current interlocking
power grid needs to have people rethink how to make it work. Many believed the utilities when they
simulated grid problems and said that the system worked. Well now we know better. We need more
controls and smaller grids and better flow protection. We need less big companies and more smaller
independent producers that want to make it work for their careers and because
their family security depends on their contribution. Making Energy Farms a career will provide thousands of jobs for
people and families and will help us become energy independent.

As we reach the dog days of summer many of us have more appreciation for electric and what it provides in the form of an air conditioning unit. While many people have died this year from the heat in India and Europe we have an economy and standard of living that has permitted us to use air conditioning in many locations. I remember my youth when we have to go to the movie theatres to enjoy air conditioning and we use to lay down in front of a fan at night to get some sleep, times do change. We need to take the availability of electric to the world. Rather than incur these energy problems in our lives help our effort to bring clean renewable energy generation sites to the power grid.

France Reports over 3,000 Heat-Related
Deaths, is there a more important reason for making electric affordable and available
so that people can purchase HVAC equipment. Last newsletter we reported on the
fact that over 500,000 die every year in the Asian theatre from air pollution,
how many more suffer health problems and their associated costs. Remember what “Black Lung” has done to the
coal mining families. How many die from
smog and also the fact that asthma is an epidemic in the USA.
Can you
spend some effort to support clean renewable energy?

CBS’s report on Montana Power shows how a power company that was making a good steady income, had great rates and was the mainstay in the area for employment and investing could be corrupted by greedy executives and ruin the lives of many people.

Simple 5 steps to send an e-mail to your representative in less than 1 minute. Do it for our troops overseas protecting oil supplies and for those in the past who served and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice!
Step 1: Copy the following
e-mail text or write your own.
We are seeking a new approach to the energy problems we
experience in the United States, one that would not only promote a better power
grid but one that would support distributed electric generation.
May I suggest one that:
Promotes
cleaner air and less pollution
Encourages jobs
Allows us to be
less dependent on foreign countries
Makes the power
grid stronger by creating thousands of generating sites using clean sources
Supports
individuals in all states to become more energy independent not only to
conserve
Helps
researchers and manufacturers to develop clean new electric systems
We need clean electric, generated and controlled in the United
States. Supported by our local, state and
federal governments. Electrical energy from solar, wind and water power plants
of all sizes.
We are seeking the support of our representatives at all levels
to push for small-scale energy development so that our economy doesn’t suffer
through any more corruption or poor decisions by electrical company executives
at the expense of users, localities, investors and the national economy.
We must gain a position where we never will have to send troops and our economy will never have to depend on cartels or foreign governments.
Step 2: Go to the Action site.
Step 3: Type in your ZIP
code or select your state and select GO.
Step 4: Select which
representative you wish to write.
Step 5: Paste or write
your own text into the message area and fill in your personal information
Step 6: Select SEND
If you want to do more or to support our efforts look at sponsors. If you select to send a message and copy
yourself and forward it to us we will match it!
I was asked to repeat this: (here is an idea for LAWYERS)
Imagine what would happen to the Power Generation Industry if it were to be attacked like the tobacco, firearms. Tires and fast food industries. It certainly has had and is having a negative effect more widespread than tobacco and it is worse than the food industry which is giving us a wider beltline. What happens when the lawyers start to sue over the health effects of fossil fuels on the human species? Science has proven that we have been polluting water, air, oceans, plants and now ourselves by using fossil fuels to supply our electric. The Renewable Energy field would be forced to grow at a rate that would be unbelievable even when compared to the computer era.
Humans certainly need electric, we have been given the tools to produce global electric using renewable resources but have not given it the attention that it deserves. Meanwhile every power outage makes us more determine to become independent. People rush out to buy generators, if they can afford them, to ensure that the convenience of electric and the safety is always available to them.

The section for State Reports in this newsletter is the outline for a state-by-state comparison along with a request for a contact to send in news for each state and to serve as a state representative, and you will have your own by-line.
We need you to push manufacturers
and dealers to send in their product information so we can present it here!
We are also seeking
a non-profit as our sponsor so that we can seek foundation and public funding
together.
We hope you enjoy
this issue and welcome your comments and suggestions.

Sayings:
The power grid is design to isolate large failures, HA!
The different power companies are more interested in what benefits themselves rather then the total grid!
The benefit of the blackout is that now people know more about the power grid and the electrical system than when all they knew was the on/off switch and the bills.
“We are a super world super power with a third world power grid.” Gov. Bill Richardson, TX.(former Energy Secretary)
We are the greatest world power in history yet our economy and military depends on energy from foreign countries.
AGAIN:
The difference with our group is that we are promoting and encouraging energy independence using clean renewable sources and promoting jobs and incentives for the creation of Energy Farms. We will also cover becoming independent and how best to run it as a small business thus it is not just to support your personal energy needs but for an income-producing career.
If you feel the same way please add your voice in the battle.
We are promoting companies to send in their best designs for a small Energy Farm in the $200,000 to $500,000 range. If we can put together a site that generates a good income and a sustainable career for people we can replicate it across the country and create jobs for thousands of people. As part of the effort we will cover various products, home design and independent living ideas. Feel free to send your ideas to mailto:editor@energyfarms.org
