Happy New Year 2006 !!

Editorial   -   January (Check the homepage)

(Vol 4 no 1)

Welcome!

Well, it is the same problem all year and every year, electric sure is nice to have.  Also, it is nice when it is affordable.  Electric keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  It allows one person to perform the work of many and let us not forget the many appliances in the kitchen that allows us to make fine dinners quickly.

This year we will not only create more plans for connecting renewable energy products for a Energy Farms site that will supply excess electric for selling back to the utilities but also report on many new innovations along with incentives.

Many overseas companies have announced that they will start to mass produce solar cells.  We will try to encourage US companies to get into the ball park. Last year was the year of

wind. It looks like solar will be a major player this year.  We will continue to suggest a site with the combination of solar, wind, hydro and biomass. Hopefully many other new technologies will come to the aid of mankind.  While watching the bowl games all I can think of is how much time, dollars and energy is spent on just bowl games, forget the college season and the pros.  And after the season it is all over while if we continued to develop renewable energy we could provide a better quality of life for people around the world and improve the health of many who suffer from pollution and lower the death rate around the world.  The United States would again be looked upon favorably by the world.

The concept of renewable energy providing low cost electric for the entire world will prevent wars over energy and provide civilizations with heating, air conditioning and local power. The power of electric can turn deserts to farm land and eliminate fossil fuels poisoning he environment.  Can you imagine life without electric?

Suggestions for the administration:

Convert closed manufacturing sites to build solar cells and arrays.

Create jobs and improve the country’s self reliance

Convert closed military bases into renewable power farms and demo sites

Let prisons manufacture solar cells and build arrays along with other renewable energy products.

Teach them a trade for when they are released

Payback society

Convert to renewable energy sooner

Improve our economy

Lower production costs

Prediction:

In less than 5 years colleges will be teaching a Business course on Renewable Energy Business 101 where students will learn how to create a site that will produce electric from clean renewable energy for a small business that will provide them will an income well into their retirement years.  Hundred of thousands will create a new career that will make them their own boss with initial funding from the SBA and Venture Capital firms along with local, state and federal incentives as a reaction to the oil crisis and the economic impact of continual export imbalance over oil.

Just imagine how attractive a site would be that can generate income without much intervention from you.  You will be able to travel and monitor your business via the internet.  Part of the income would go to increase production and to bring in new technology.   Not only will you be able to use wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, fuel cell but also biomass and whatever new source that comes along.

No boss, no discrimination, no glass ceiling and knowing your helping not only you but your family, local community, state self reliance and national security.

A business where you will be able to own acres and be self reliant but also communicate and educate yourself and your family continuously via the Internet over wireless broadband almost anywhere.

With businesses, like IBM, doing away with traditional retirement plans and converting them to 401K this idea of providing income throughout retirement will only gain incentive as new products come out at lower costs.  Imagine having a site that produces income with little intervention, provides income throughout retirement, a site that can be passed down to the family, grow in size and output with new technologies and provide the owner with a fairly free schedule to create income from hobbies and other interests.  By using electric to produce food year round and helping others create their own sites the concept would grow larger and more powerful.

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH

(Concrete Home Industry)

What is seen below is the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the home in the circle is made from concrete. This month we salute concrete homes and their ability to afford safety in hurricanes, storms and fires.  Their strength and ability will provide a lasting legacy for the family that passes it down through the ages. New home plans provide a wide variety of styles and options.

Oil has now hit over $70 a barrel!!!

Energy Information Administration

·         Europe and North America are soaking up every drop they can get – an eye-popping 44.6 million barrels per day.

·         China’s 1.3 billion people – nearly one-fifth of the planet’s population – busily trading their bicycles for cars, are consuming more oil in a day than they used to in a month. In fact, China’s demand for oil is increasing at the rate of 15.4% per year.

·         India’s future oil consumption is expected to grow rapidly to 2.8 million barrels per day by 2010. Presently, oil accounts for about 30 percent of India’s total energy consumption.

·         Latin America, Africa, the former Soviet Union, and other regions are bellying up to the bar as never before – adding 11.11million-barrels-per-day demand pressures on oil prices.

This explosion in demand for oil is NOT going to abate anytime soon.

My home state of North Carolina is rich in natural resources of wind and sun.  The vast shoreline and mountains in the west could generate more that enough electric to support the state’s needs.  Most states do have something going for them in the renewable resources arena and those that develop them will

Getting closer

Wind Farm   family building wind farm for $100k   for supporting 8 homes,

We can use more research funds,  incentives,  large scale manufacturing, economy of scale and long term funding support from the SBA

What the world needs is more attention spent on developing a supply of clean electric from renewable sources.  Resources that are available throughout most of the world.  Rather then heaping praises on actors and those in sports we should be honoring those that make life better for everyone.  Those who can make the quality of life better for all.  What we need are home designs and government incentives that create homes that not only supply their own electric needs but can also place excess electric out onto the power grid.

What if:

It costs Homes $10,000 to install systems for supplying their own electrical needs and

A owner could generate electric for 10 homes for $100,000 and if

A person could generate electric for 100 homes for $500,000

The average home electric bill was $100

The person producing electric for 10 homes would make $1,000 per month

The person producing electric for 100 homes would make $10,000 per month

Millions of people would elect to get an SBA loan or other business loan to create a small business to generate electric from solar, wind, water or other

form of clean renewable electric.  The idea would act as a motivator for corporations to do more research and development in the energy sector.  The country would have exportable technology that would help the entire world.

It would help the United States economy by having less oil imports.  It would also assist in cleaning the environment, creating jobs, better heath and a solid financial future for families, an income throughout retirement and a legacy that they could leave their families.

AGAIN:

The difference with our group is that we are promoting and encouraging energy independence using clean renewable sources and promoting jobs and incentives for the creation of Energy Farms. We will also cover becoming independent and how best to run it as a small business thus it is not just to support your personal energy needs but for an income-producing career.

  • We will be asking people to write letters to their representatives to push for this goal by supporting legislation that promote Renewable Energy.
  • We are asking the government to attack the issue of energy independence the same way we pushed the Apollo Program which landed a man on the moon and we will ask people to get behind the issue with the same enthusiasm that fans show for sporting events and for Hollywood and TV movies.
  • We will encourage colleges to create a curriculum to show people a new career alternative, that of generating electric and selling it to the utilities.
  • We will push for a standard acceptable contract for independent power producers and the utilities so that the additional legal costs can be avoided.
  • We will also seek reasonable environmental controls. We are the stewards of our planet and we need to maintain it so that future generations can enjoy it in safety.
  • Backing would come from a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan guarantee with up to $500,000. The idea is to create a small business opportunity for individuals and families as a home based business.
  • Being energy independent should avoid future wars over oil and lost lives while benefiting the standard of living for people worldwide.
  • Check our Mission Statement
  • We urge the Federal Government to create a incentive program for our disabled veterans and other vets for their service to the country
  • We also support Home Schooling, Distant Learning and Lifelong learning via the Internet to reduced taxes and improve education

Design Challenge

We are promoting companies to send in their best designs for a small Energy Farm in the $200,000 to $500,000 range.  If we can put together a site that generates a good income and a sustainable career for people we can replicate it across the country and create jobs for thousands of people. As part of the effort we will cover various products, home design and independent living ideas.  Feel free to send your ideas to mailto:editor@energyfarms.org
